So here’s the story behind this camera. My dad brought it from Germany almost 25 years ago (you know, to take pictures of his lovely daughter ). But, he stopped shooting or whatever and the familia forgot all about it. I knew about the camera but at the time I was all about “digital, digital” and I (complete idiot) thought shooting film was a step backwards. Then I totally forgot about it, until yesterday when the thought of actually owning a film camera hit me. Don’t ask where I found it. Dad told me there’s something wrong with it, a minor problem, so I can’t wait to get it repaired and start shooting.
Anywho, it’s a Revue ML and it was actually being made in DDR (the middle of the 80′s) and as far as I have googled it, it was a cheap camera that came with the 50mm 1.8 lens. At this point, I really don’t care if the photos taken with this camera turn out to be crappy. It also comes with a 70 – 210mm lens. So, yeah I’m happy.

Most of my, should we call it, photo shoots with my best friend – Ivana, are the result of our coffee, chit chat meet ups. I’d be like “Let’s shoot something, go and change your shirt!” These are my favorite kinds. No nervousness or anything, we just do it for fun. And, if I end up with couple of cool photos, well, cool then….but if not, better luck next time. I love my friends. So, here’s a couple of photos that came out of our session of having fun.

Hey guys,

If you follow my stream on Flickr you might have noticed that 4 days ago I started with the infamous 365 project which means a photo of me for a year. I was postponing it for quite some time, don’t know why, I guess I wasn’t quite ready for making up set ups and just being creative. 365 is a lot of work, taking selfportraits and make them not looking all the same (I guess thats imposibble:/). Probably the most difficult part is that it is a bit tricky to focus yourself and we usually end up with 1000 of photos and unfocused tries for just one day. And above all, after the whole agony, you only get to choose one My Nikon wireless remote is what I rely on most when it comes to selfportrait-ing. I don’t want to clutter up my Flickr stream with lots of outakes. I plan to post the majority of them here.

Summer!

I wanted to pull off something new, something wild, something exotic to talk about and then I title this post Summer! Who ever writes about summer? Especially this time of year. I know, totally unexpected, right? Speaking of the infamous summer, I almost had a heat stroke today. First, all of my train route was delayed, canceled and I had to take the bus. Since I live in a town relatively close to the capital, I travel each day to college by train. All of the train rides (well, the most crowded ones) are canceled until the future notice because almost the entire railway route went under construction . What it took less then an hour by train, now it takes almost 2 hours of jolly bus drive. And above all, I was being late for my appointment in high school where I did my teaching practice. Since I was heading for high school I couldn’t dress like I was going to the beach, instead I wore long sleeves and jeans. Genius, right? So I had to survive the bus ride, high school, the heat and then, to make it more dramatic, I had to take the exam for which I haven’t study at all. After I came home, BY TRAIN (just to mention) I had a feeling like I was a superhero. But, now I’m home and listening frogs contemplating in the distance. I thank God for this little piece of heaven he stored for me.

So, that was a brief update on me and my day. Manic Monday, I tell ya.

Now, let’s rewind a bit and start talking about the summer. Even though I have a few exams to pass before summer, I kinda got carried away with the anticipation of it’s arrival. What I like most about summer? Primary, I love the feeling of college-less days (even for a month or two). Next year, I’ll be in my last college year and the thought of not having such long summers terrifies me. Summer has the longest days and one day seems like a year. I love the inviting warmth of the nights and getting out of the house at 3am and not worrying if it’s normal! Every summer we go to our vacation house by the seaside. I kinda have a second life there, where I have made a lot of friends (for life). This year, the big majority of them aren’t coming; some have babies, boyfriends or just don’t feel like coming anymore. But I AM! I’ll hang out at the beach, keep myself occupied with some easy reads, … I promised myself to shoot a lot of photos this summer. I’m happy because I finally feel like photographing again. Last winter was so depressing. Oh, and it’s my 25th birthday in 14 days. One more thing to look forward to.

Hello,

I know I’ve been away for such a long time. My life has been a mess. Well, nothing life threatening or whatever but more….my mind was up and down at the same time. Now, I can’t wait for the summer to come! I’m done with everything that has to do with winter and cold and blaah!

Ooooh, I have to share this with you - I had my first day as a history professor in high school! It was awesome, I mean..I had some mistakes but overall – It was good! I was so afraid of speaking in front of such huge bunch of teenagers! But then again, they are almost 8 years younger then me..Ha! Will write more in my next post! Muah!

My “To do” List – 2010.

Ouch, I’ve been away and haven’t written not even a word for such a long time, here. Anyway, we’re confronting a fresh new start; a fresh new year. Like most people, I too have high expectations for the big 2010. So, in the honor of the past year (that’s been more than great) I’m presenting you with my new, shiny “to do” list:

Deepen my faith and spirit. Just a human, eh? I know He loves me, no matter what.
Read more books. Have you ever heard of shop-o-book-o-holic? That’s me! I buy so much of these stuff and only read like, 30% of it. And it annoys me big time! Of course, having so many books doesn’t stop me from reading the same titles a few hundred times. Have you ever heard of the Twilight Saga? I know, right? It’s almost like I’m waiting for the right timing to read a certain book. But, I’m actually getting quite better ’cause I’ve just finished The Courtship of Princess Leia I bought 2 years ago and I’m super excited about reading all of the other ones. Oh, dear.
Buy a new Nikon. My old Nikon D80 has been such a good companion for the last 3 years and I know the poor thing gave it’s share. We had some good and bad times; some good and bad photos. It’s time to say “Goodbye”.
Go to San Francisco. That has been my dream since I can remember. Well, visiting the States at least. I’ve developed a certain appreciation society towards San Francisco in the last couple of years. This is actually quite promising ’cause I’ve found such a great deal within some travel agency and I’d be crazy not to go for it. But shhhhhhhh, we’ll see!
Unplug the Internet cord. Of course, it’s just a figure of speech. But, the truth is that I spend too much time online and I don’t want to lose my sight by the time I’m 40. It’s not just that. We have been neglecting so much and I blame it on the WWW.
Stop being lazy and study more. I don’t wanna talk about it.
Do a makeup tutorial and upload it to You Tube. It’s a momentary phase, I know. But I’ll do it! Oh dear, sometimes, I keep forgetting I’m 24.
Dye my hair copper/ginger. I’m in love with this hair color.
